Here’s a potentially good idea for hospitality businesses with using QR codes. If you’re in the restaurant / bar business this may be a way to create some real service value for your customers.

Muncheez is a local pizza restaurant with over 50 different kinds of beer to choose from. That’s a lot of choices. If Muncheez made their extensive beer menu available through QR code I could scan it while waiting to pick up my order and have the whole menu available on my phone. Now I have the full menu on my phone and I can look at it anytime.

Next time I’m ordering to go how convenient would it be to have their to go menu right on my phone, scanned from their QR Code on my last visit. Muncheez can update their menu and I get the changes right away. This makes it easier for me to stay familiar with their menu. It may help me choose Muncheez more often when I’m hungry for pizza.

Read more about this QR code idea at:
http://www.convinceandconvert.com/social-media-strategy/3-tips-to-use-qr-codes-for-information-not-destination/

As the article says QR codes are often to complicated to bother with but these ideas make sense. What do you think?

This morning eMarketer has a story about curious consumers and QR Codes. According to the research only 21% of surveyed people have heard of QR Codes but 4 out of 5 know what they are. The biggest reason people scan the codes is to see what will happen. Read more at the link.

You Tube is getting more “social” and now with Google+ being pushed I expect 2012 is going to be a year for a lot more video channels to emerge. Grassroots multimedia content production makes a whole lot of sense for organizations to share their stories and create more connections.

A look at the You Tube home page will reveal that quite a bit of rearranging has been done. Instead of showcasing the most popular and trending videos on the website, YouTube has now prominently positioned a “Subscription Feed” smack-dab in the middle of the page. You must be logged in to see this.

Is your organization ready for more video in 2012?

via 30 Social Media Predictions for 2012 From the Pros | Social Media Examiner.

Check out this list of 30 social media predictions for 2102.

My take away is to focus on creating outstanding quality content and get busy with video.

You Tube is going to be a bigger deal in 2012. How can you help your customers succeed through video?

Just creating content is not going to be enough to stand out. You need to create with more value and stand out, with more authenticity.

Blogging comes to blue-collar businesses. I am seeing more small businesses understand the power of continually building their stories and relationships with customers through the power of blogging.

Integration of “social media” within all business communication. Multi direction on line communication

Simplify. Where ever you can make your systems and processes simpler. Focus on the real experiences and the human interactions and get process out of the way. The platform and the tools can not get in the way of building meaningful connections.

Late this summer, HiveFire, a Cambridge, Mass.-based internet marketing software solutions company, surveyed nearly 400 marketing professionals about the state of the business-to-business, or B2B, market, and discovered that marketers are retreating from traditional marketing tactics such as search marketing and have made content marketing the most-used tactic in their brand-enhancing tool box. Fact is, according to HiveFire’s B2B Marketing Trends Survey Report, twice as many B2B marketers now employ content marketing as they do print, TV and radio advertising, according to the survey.

So what exactly is content marketing? It’s the creation and publication of original content — including blog posts, case studies, white papers, videos and photos — for the purpose of generating leads, enhancing a brand’s visibility, and putting the company’s subject matter expertise on display. HiveFire’s researchers found that an impressive 82 percent of B2B marketers now employ content marketing as a strategy in their marketing programs. Coming in at a distant second place is search engine marketing at 70 percent, followed by events at 68 percent, public relations at 64 percent and print/TV/radio advertising at 32 percent.

One of the best ways for small businesses to connect with their customers is through sharing their story on line. Meaningful information that helps solve customer challenges and helps build stronger relationships is a big benefit that can be built through valuable content marketing.
