So happy Mark posted this. (thanks @kalalea!) @pistachio (Laura Finton) clearly states so much of what I feel to be true and important about the Twitter experience.

I was one of the people who said, "what the heck is this Twitter thing, why would I ever use it?!"

...and then I lived Twitter vicariously through Mark (@kalalea) for awhile...

I started to feel my own inspired desire to connect the way he was.
Joining Twitter became one of my most exciting New Year's Intentions.

On New Year's Day I started tweeting, and at my own pace, attracted to and attracting those who match my vibe, I've been gleefully tweeting ever since.

I have to say, what I like about Twitter is my neighborhood or my Twitterhood if you will, is that I'm surrounded by good neighbors. Neighbors I trust, neighbors whom I find funny, relatable, intelligent, soulful...neighbors I feel connected to, neighbors I could even count on in tough times. (Now if only I could run next door for a cup of their sugar!)

Do I know these people well? Well, maybe not. Laura speaks to the seemingly trivial nature of relationships w/those whose paths we randomly cross from time to time; a neighbor at the cleaner's for instance. She mentions how with time there's a certain reciprocity that can develop from these relationships. I see that happening in my experience with Twitter.

Perhaps what I appreciate most is that in the Twitterhood I choose my people and my people choose me. It's a circle of friends that I resonate with. They're a part of my Tribe, my community. We may only converse in 140 character blurbs at a time...but we get each other.

Who doesn't want to be in a Tribe or Community where they feel seen and understood; where we can offer support as well as receive it?

I agree with Laura. Somehow...in the midst of the millions of people that make up the Twitterverse there's an "ambient awareness, an ambient intimacy" that is palpable. And I'm happy to be in the company of those who enjoy that space...a space that creates itself over and over again in real time! Brilliant.
